Halloween is a time of tricks and treats, ghouls and goblins, and things that go "bump" in the night. However, it can be a scary time for protecting yourself. Many famous slasher films depict serial killers stalking teenagers and cutting them down with knives or chainsaws. Have you ever wondered what you would do if you were faced with a real life slasher? Could you out-scare the scariest of foes even on Halloween night?
How would you do it? In order to out-scare the scariest, you must be scarier. But how would you do that? In the face of scary violence, you must sometimes meet it with superior violence. Not chaotic violence like many slashers are depicted as perpetrating. No, your form of violence would be highly focused and specially targeted. Not random and chaotic; but make no mistake, it would be superior violence. Why? Because you have kids who are counting on you. You have a spouse who isn't ready to live the rest of their life without you and because you aren't ready to live without your spouse. You have a greater purpose.
How do you gain superior violence? Through training. Through training yourself in the physical, mental and spiritual aspects of combat and violence. Superior violence doesn't necessarily mean high gymnastic ability or that you must weigh 265 pounds of pure muscle. It means that you have basic physical and mental protective skills that you execute with extreme conviction when confronted with deadly force. The greatest barrier to protecting yourself is being indecisive. Should you or shouldn't you act? Should you or shouldn't you do this or that? I don't know. I don't know exactly what your situation will be but I do know that if you train now and take the time to go over the worst case scenarios in your mind and visualize yourself winning, it could make the difference between your survival or death.
How do you become the scariest thing on the block this Halloween? You commit to protecting yourself and loved ones with all your heart and will. You proactively look for ways to stay one step ahead of the prankster or slasher so that you can stop them before they hurt you. Most importantly, commit to getting the training you need to protect yourself and your loved ones now. Don't wait for something bad to happen. Don't hide in denial and say to yourself "There are no bad men out here" because you are lying to yourself. There are sick people out there. People like the teenager in this article who fatally shot his mother and sister. Why is this so sick? He told police he killed them after watching the horror film 'Halloween' 3 times. In order to combat this kind of scary violence you must be scarier than the attacker. You must be scarier because then you will not fear the attacker, for you will be the greater. Fight violence with superior violence. Fight violence with purpose driven violence.
Stay safe this Halloween. Be vigilant, stay alert and aware and be scarier than the attacker.
